Long Beach Police Department Adopts New Police Vetting Database

Under my leadership, Long Beach was one of the first municipalities to participate in the LEWIS Registry. Watch more here.

The LEWIS Registry flags and blocks the repeat hiring of law enforcement officials who were fired for wrongdoing including excessive use of force, corruption, domestic violence, sexual assault, physical assault, harassment, perjury, hate group affiliation, and falsifying a police report.

I was eager to have the LBPD participate in the LEWIS Registry because I have very high standards for the officers who I recruit, hire, and retain, and I refuse to hire individuals with negative histories. I worked in partnership with stakeholders including labor to successfully implement the LEWIS Registry.
